A day in the life of a toddler.

I think she’s not feeling herself today, in fact she’s been working on this cold for a week now. And I admit, I was putting her off, trying to fix something that had broken on my blog. After her fourth circuit from bedroom to living room with no change in path, I asked her what she was doing. Her response? “I want to walk.” Okay. And on she went. Wonder what was going through her mind?

You’ve heard tales before of the garbling of language in a toddler’s tongue as they learn how to say things. Picture this: she is repeating my command of “no more frosting” and somehow substitutes uck for rost. So it came out “no more f’ing”. Of course the uproarious laughter and dragging out of cellphones to capture the moment won’t help to fix the inappropriate utterance. But it was certainly funny!

Gingerbread houses, sound so cute when you think of toddlers making them. But bringing them home is a different story. First she threw a fit because she couldn’t carry it, then because she couldn’t eat it. She didn’t let me forget it in the car either, pointing at the door as soon as she got out. I’m sure by tomorrow I’ll give in and let her eat parts of it. After I get a picture.

Elbow wars. Who knew? With limited desk space next to my keyboard, I often lean my elbow there, with chin in hand, when I’m answering a toddler question. As always, she likes to imitate me and get her elbow up, even if she’s a little short. Today it erupted into a full out battle for that corner of desk. Giggles ensued immediately. Who needs new toys? We amuse ourselves so well!
